Very Happy with the Yaesu FT-2900 2 meter transceiver. Been testing it for a soild week, perfect. Hitting repeaters 60 miles away with a Diamond M77 19 inch antenna, wow! This radio is rugged and heavy coming out of the well packed box. The radio feels like it a brick and as solid are one too. At 75 watts it will heat up, but its fine. I have yet to see it hang up or shut down, even in 100 degree weather in this hot NC summer. The only weak spot, the speaker. It’s a little weak and I plan to add an external speaker soon enough. In the mean time, I am buy a few more for my other vehicles, hey I want one ever where I go!

The Yaesu FT-2900 has been perfect! With a 1/4 wavelength antenna I was able to check in on a repeater over 85 miles away at 9:00am! The only real hang-up I’ve found is the mike is a little light with a tenancy to slide in the hand. I will be adding a little bit of grip tape to the back, that should fix it. I have found that using a hole puncher to cut two little disk out, adding them to the mike is the stuff!
